2013 toy fair

The Toy Fair has been to talk of the town, I made my trip to the fair this afternoon,

As I explained before, this is an industry show, I wear a "buyer" Pass, not "Press", so taking phots on a vendor's booth is not allowed, and I dont break rules.
but I am sure you have seen photos on internet,
here are the Collector Barbie Dolls I saw:
1. Happy Holidays 2013 There is no prototype dolls, only a cut-out picture the box, the doll is a blonde Mackie, I did not see AA version. she wears a white/silver spaghetti strap ball gown with sparkling snowflakes, very wintry "25th Anniversary" was printed on the top center of the box
2. Catwoman & Batmen No dolls were shown, carboard Mock-ups only--- 2 blurry cutouts in the boxes

3. Roman Holidays Hepburn doll: No prototype, only a picture cutout in the box, wholesale price $27 , but big quantitiy buyers may get it at $15, anyway, the retail price should be from $34-$49

4. Sabrina Audrey Hepburn Again, Mattel did not have a doll for buyers to see, just a cutout image in the box.

4. wizard of oz dolls are alos Mock-up only, no protpyes at the show. lol --yes, I m feeling funny that buyers spend money and time flying in to see blurry picture cut-outs.

5. Barbie & Midge: this set if for real, 2 dolls are dolls, not cutouts. lol

6. Barbie Looks
there are 2 city shoppers. also shown pictures only, not prototype dolls. One doll wears black mini dress, the other is in white. I think one is mackie face, the other is Lara. One photographer took a pictue of the "pictures" lol, you can visit her flicker page here: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8238/8462996799_80ecdd1462_h.jpg
7. Dolls of the world Pictures of the United Kingdom, Canada & Morocco are displayed, no prototype dolls. Morocco & Canada are similar to their old versions. You have seen UK & Canada before, the Morcocco doll's dress is very much like the old one, only the pattern mixed in green color. the old one was gold/red only, right?
8. Silkstone: Luncheon Ensemble is the only one stands still on the shelf. lonely, isnt she?
9. the twilight dolls are also on display. but you have seen them everywhere in the store.
Barbie collecor takes a little space at the show, Monster high dolls have a large section, larger than Barbie. since I am not into the monsters, I cant tell you what's what. but you can check them out here: http://toyfair13.asmzine.com/gallery/mattel/monster-high/index.html
this time mattel has its booths separated from other vendors, it occupies the whole Galleria of Javits Center (on 2nd floor).
I also visited Tonner Doll, they only have one booth. but its more friendly and personable looking, and their displays are beautiful, absolutely no Mock-ups in the box, all the dolls are well dressed, neatly styled and ready to greet visitors. the staff at the booth are very friendly as well, their business cards show their sense of humor: Jason--creative big-wig, Jack--Chief Money Guy.. lol
they have a line aimed to both kids and collectors, "city girls", they wear better outfits than the Barbie look dolls. but they are 16" with heels. http://www.tonnerdoll.com/city-girls?gclid=CJXK-4eAsLUCFUZV4AodhxYAKw
then, I visited MGA entertainment (Bratz dolls), too many little things and I dont know where to look, so I moved on to Madame Alexander dolls, I dont collect them, but I always enjoy looking at them, they have better craftsmanship than Barbie have, their faces are adorable.
after I left the Toy Fair, I stopped by the Barbie House at Times Square. it has always been a nice place to visit. the 2nd floor is closed for remodeling:

Barbie Dress --Grace Kelly "Rear Window"

okay, this is my Trial version--- the branches are hand painted, but they are way  too big, I''ll have to make it smaller when I  "put it into production" -- the production numbers are very limited, only 11 will be made. lol

Which Barbie wears it best?

Tribute to Japan?

I am not sure if its a tribute to Japan or an insult to Japanese People:

http://members.boardhost.com/inthepink/msg/1300834969.html

3 dolls have nothing to do with Japan, Mattel labeled them "Chinoiserie", not "Japonism" or "Japonisme,"

Americans seem to worship Japanese, but they'd never go any deeper to explore a little bit more about culture.

BArbie at FAO Schwarz

I like FAO Schwarz, so does Barbie

if you really like barbie and want everything "Barbie", you'd better get Rich:

but I guess even you had such money, its okay you live without this table, what a terrible way to torture barbie like this!

Daimonds are girls' best friends:

Barbie Shirts are more affordable, if the necklace would bankrupt you.

a Watch or a handbag is also a nice choice

Barbie at Toy Fair 2011

Barbie at toy fair 2011

Posted by dollsaga on February 13, 2011
I paid a short visit to Mattel’s Booth at toy fair,  not many collector Barbies but there are tons of playline dolls.
The doll I wanted to see most is the Francie Silkstone, she has a Barbie TNT face mold, not really a Francie? so I was a bit confused. but she is very pretty, she has a youthful face, wears school-girl-like outfits with white/red grid (plaid) prints. I did not ask for her retail prices.
4 Russion silkstones are on display, Verushka looks just like the Southern Belle. only the price is $115. I do not like Mila’s lower eyelashes, she looks strange. as always, the male doll isnt good looking. his outfits remind me of the Doorman in front of FAO Schwarz, NYC. Darya is another show girl, she is prettier than Mila.
There is a Museum collection I like, there are 3 dolls wearing gowns that inspired by 3 widely recognized oil paintings:
1. The Mona Lisa by Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci
the doll’s expression captured the ambiguity of Mona Lisa’s smile
2. The Starry Night  by Van Gogh’s
I think the mid-night blue toned dress is pretty
3. Adele Bloch-Bauer I by Gustav Klimt
I like the style of her fashion, but not the quality of the fabric. Knitted stretch fabric plus glittering orgaza. I guess such quality is okay if the price is under $39.99
This collection is so much better than Landmark collection –I simply want nothing from Landmark.
Tokidoki
she has the same look as the 1st “Hello Kitty”, only she has pink hair. her fashion & accessories are fun, but she has tattoos all over her body, since I have always Hated tattoos, so she is not for me.
Happy holidays 2011
this time the 2 dolls wear green/gold gown. the gown looks pretty nice, hope their prices wont go up too much
Barbie Basic 2.5
3 dolls, with Lea, Mbili & louboutin face sculpts, wearing Metalic tops and glittering jeans. since they are Basics, I dont expect they come with nice outfits. but this group has better outfits than 2.0 did. Louboutin doll has pale skin and platium blonde hair, she is quite a catch for me, the rest 2 have nothing new or special. the Accessory pack looks nice, a black satin jacket is something new for Barbie Basics.
Farrah Fawcett
doll was made based on a pin up. the doll is as ugly as these “I love Lucy” dolls, she does not come with articulated body, so her body sculpt probably will turn away some collectors who dont like her sitting posture
Couture Angel
this time a Brunette, she has a lara face, her face isnt as pretty as an angel should be. I think I like 2010 the blue couture Angel better.
Pillow Talk Giftset
I dont like the look of Doris Day (doll)’s big mouth,  again I HATE the painted hair on Male dolls, so neither Doris nor  Rock Hudson will come home with me.
Elvis & Frank Sinatra Barbie
nice outfits, articulated body –I bet they will be more expensive than these Pop Life & Jazz babies?!
the rest dolls are already in the store. such as Twilight, Japan, opera house….
Since I dont have a Media Pass, I didnt break their rules and take pictures, the gentleman from Haute Doll took some nice pictures, you  may like to visit his flickr photo album
Playline dolls come with some  very nice outfits, but I almost stopped paying attention to any playline barbies, so I cant remeber what I saw. ..

Highland Fling

I finally sent this girl home, the little project have been dragged on forever. she cant be more happy to leave the icy storm behind and get on with her new life!
